I really like the stock Fiesta wheels, but especially since they are off my car right now, I wanted to try something new and plastidip them. I've been debating between gold for that WRXesque look, or black. Have any of you had experience with plastidip? Does it actually turn out looking good or not really.
Do you think Gold
Or black would look any good? Would love some opinions. Be honest. My car looks identical to the one in the picture besides the fact it is horribly dirty and has red brakes calipers.

As with any paint, it's all about the prep. Do a great job prepping your wheels, and the end result will look great.
Blue/Gold is a little overplayed, but it is a classic combo.
I personally really like the 'Dark Argent' grey they used on the EAP SVT Focus wheels with a blue car. But, I don't know how big the color palette is for PlastiDip.

No need to plastidip your wheels.
Just brake hard all the time and they eventually become blacker and blacker.

Tell me about it! The brake dust on these wheels is so insane its even noticeable on my black steelies! How has your mpg been btw?

I was thinking of plastidipping too! But I have to wait for it to warm up so I can open the windows when I do it.

We need to figure out some way to cut down on the brake dust.
And my mpg has been anywhere from 26 in town to 31 on the highway. But I drive more in town, so my average is lower (28 or so)

Brake dust is all about pads.
Get some better brake pads, and you'll see a huge improvement.
Also, I have taken to putting Armorall on my wheels when I wash my car. It helps keep the dust from sticking.

I think black gets lost on a blue car, there is not enough contrast. Gold would be neat, or white, maybe gunmetal.

My buddy did it with his stock Mazda3 wheels. He prepped as best he could, but because they use rocks on the roads here in the winter, the dip lasted less than a year before it started peeling. He then tried to strip the dip and just re-coat. That turned out to be a nightmare.
He eventually gave in and just had the wheels media blasted and powder coated.

White isn't really an option with this car. It would look amazing, but brake dust would leave it looking so awful.

why?

So once it starts peeling its impossible to peel cleanly?

Black wheels would match the grill, but I wouldn't use plasti-dip on my car

Maybe gunmetal would look cool and hide the dust better.

I think that he could have eventually peeled it all off, it was just going to take a very long time. With all the nooks and curves in the wheel design it was going to be a huge chore. He found a local place that had reasonable prices for media blasting and powder coating and decided that that was the better way to go.

That is what color they are now.

Oh I thought they were silver...in that case I say they already look cool.

is it not blasphemous to have blue and gold on something other than a subie?

Only to certain folks...could be fun to do it for the lulz.

Plasti dip it whatever color you want, I would do gunmetal.
Use glossifier though, or else it'll look like you
plastidipped
your wheels. I'll try to pull up a thread who dipped and glossed his G37's wheels bronze.

Well this is my performance blue st with plastidip copper metalizer over plastidip flat black. I like the copper more that the gold personally.

With some brake dust.

I'd leave them in this color, they look good! If you feel the need to change it, then gold > black in my opinion.

Do white

If I were in your shoes, I'd consider just going for powder coating. Much better quality, and cheaper than you might think.

Plastidip is the devil when it comes to taking the stuff off

I second that....I did the wheels on my Saturn black and they looked like crap until a sprays several coats of glossifier on them. I also trimmed off 1/4 of an inch plastidip 1/4 off right at the wheel rim to give it a little added depth After this was taken, I removed the center caps—-looked too weird.

Yeah if you do a nice enough job it looks great, but that takes time (and not all of us are patient)
